Our Story
Our story begins in September of 2015. Julie was working hard at Dr. Looney’s office in Milton and Erik was traveling for MEDITECH. We both found it difficult to meet others as we were working hard, so we turned to online dating. Erik was skeptical, as online dating had never worked for him before. Julie found Erik witty and cute, so we decided to meet up for dinner at Wicked pizza and wine bar in Westwood.
From that day, we only grew closer, as our love for sports and Disney created a strong bond for us. In November of 2015, Erik went to Disney with his friends Tim and Mitzi. Julie had created a scavenger hunt around Disney, which Erik loved completing (and did so with Tim and Mitzi’s help).
Our story continues in January of 2016 when Julie travelled to Michigan for Erik’s cousin’s wedding. We enjoyed the time spent in Ann Arbor seeing where Erik went to college and Julie got to meet many of Erik’s family from Michigan. This would only begin the enjoyment of traveling together.
Late February 2016 brought a surprise for Julie as she and her dad, Jim, were vacationing at Disney World. Erik surprised Julie in Epcot and it completely shocked her. This left us with many great memories on our first time at Disney World together. We came out of that trip with a strong appreciation for Japan and an even stronger love for Disney. Little did we know just how important Disney surprises would become to us.
Our travels continued in June of 2016 when Julie, Erik and Susan (Erik’s mom) travelled to Southern California for a trip filled with sunshine and Disneyland. It was an amazing trip and Erik was in his glory spending time at Disney with his two favorite women.
Summer into Fall led to Michigan and Patriots football games. Then came Winter, and with it, big changes. Erik accepted a job in Nashville and the planning began to move to a new state. January 2017 was the big move to Nashville and our new southern lifestyle. Living together in Franklin, TN was full of new surprises and changes, and it definitely tested us at times, but our love remained strong.
Another trip to Disney World and our first international trip to Mexico for Julie’s cousin’s wedding led us through late spring. That summer our lives got a whole lot Chippier. We adopted our first dog together, Chip, from Proverbs 12:10 rescue in Nashville. He has brought so many laughs and so much love to our relationship. Our first hot summer in the South began with a a surprise visit from Julie’s parents and a great first concert at Nissan Stadium, CMA Fest. In August, we adopted Arya, our first cat together, and she’s been terrorizing Chip ever since. Fall 2017 brought Erik’s first Hanson concert experience and a new job at STAR Physical Therapy for Julie.
Winter came and we rang in 2018 with friends. Late January came and a trip to Disney World with Julie’s parents, Margaret and Jim, and her brother Jamie. Little did Julie know, this would be a life-changing Disney trip.
The Proposal
January 22, 2018 would be a day that would change our lives forever. We had breakfast reservations at the Magic Kingdom, which allowed us early entry. We enter the park and go to take a picture together in front of the castle, and Erik asks the photographer to take one more picture. That’s when he pulls a ring box out of his pocket and gets on one knee. Julie could not believe it, her dreams had come true and she burst out with happiness and joy. Erik says it took a while for her to actually say the word “Yes,” but with her reaction, he knew her answer.
We continue to create memories and write new chapters of our lives together as we get closer to the day where we write another chapter with our family and friends in Nashville. We look forward to having you be a part of the next chapter of our....
